Home / Women's Health / Five Big Differences In The Way Men and Women Think

Do you ever wonder what the opposite sex is thinking? Or why your partner put everything away in that order that just made you so mind-boggled? “Why did he/she do it like that?”

If you haven’t figured it out already there are many differences in the way men and women think. We are very different, but the differences between genders, however, extend beyond what the eye can see. Research has revealed major distinguishers between male and female brains.

So today, we are sharing five big differences in the way men and women think. We promise, you will be mind-blown after we share these facts with you!

Women Remember Everything

Have you ever noticed women are always reminding men of their appointments, kids’ activities, or plans with friends? It is definitely known that women have better memories than men…and there is actually a reason for this! Women have a larger hippocampus. Our hippocampus is where we store memories. This is why women can recall pretty much anything and everything. Even from that argument five years ago!

Men Are More Logical Than Women

Without a doubt, women are more sensitive than men, which means they take a more sensitive approach when coming to any conclusion. Men take a more fact-based approach to any situation, often scanning for threats and challenges. While women tend to take a more intuitive approach because they perceive people and events on a deeper level.

Men and Women Problem Solve Differently

Have you ever wondered why women are always the ones who want to sit down during an argument and “talk things out”? Whereas men just want to do anything and everything to get to the solution and fix it the problem? Again, there is a reason for this! Men tend to converge in their thinking. They define the problem more quickly and automatically start eliminating ways that they can solve it. While women will often define the problem in broader terms and examine a  wider array of potential factors before going into solution mode.

How Men and Women Handle Conflict

Another way men and women think differently is during any sort of conflict. Men like to step away from the problem and think about it. They like to have time to think through solutions and possibilities. Women are a little more impatient and like to sit down and talk through it right away. They to want the solution but they don’t want to wait to find it.

Men Are More Relaxed Than Women

It is very common that women are known as the “worry warts” in any situation. Women worry more than men due to the “worry center” of her brain. The Anterior Cortex is where people process emotions, arrange memories and ruminate. So, why do women worry more? Their anterior cortex is bigger than men’s!

While in some cases these facts may not apply entirely to every man or woman, these differences are often true. It’s ok that we are different! We want to have different strengths and differences so we work better as a team, in a partnership, or as friends.
